OAK RIDGE NORTH, Texas - The Woodlands High School baseball team got back in the win column on Tuesday. The Highlanders earned an 8-4 win at Oak Ridge and in doing so clinched the District 14-5A championship.

The Highlanders (25-3, 10-1) jumped on Oak Ridge (14-10, 6-4) early with a three-run first inning. Chris Adritsos followed the first of two Charlie Warren doubles with a two-run double of his own to highlight the outburst.

They added three more in the fifth on a two-out bases-loaded walk to Josh Shaw and consecutive RBI-singles from Kolbi Brown and Luke Sherley.

It was a 6-1 game before Oak Ridge rallied in the bottom half of the inning on a two-run double from Alex Walker, scoring Joey Barrile and Branden Navarro, who both walked.

Colton Wardle led off The Woodlands' sixth inning with a homer to increase the lead to 7-3 but again

Oak Ridge answered in their half of the inning. Walker was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, scoring Barrile, who was hit by a pitch with two outs and nobody on base.

The Woodlands tacked on an insurance run in the top of the seventh when Shaw walked and courtesy runner Blaine Gillespie scored on an error.

Highlanders' starting pitcher Carter Hope picked up the win, going 4 1/3 innings, scattering five hits and striking out eight. Brandon Miles and Andritsos finished up.

The Woodlands hosts Conroe at 7 p.m. Friday while Oak Ridge visits Lufkin for a 6 p.m. game.

Lufkin 4 College Park 2

Lufkin scored three runs in the second inning and led 4-0 in the fifth when College Park rallied for two runs courtesy of two Panthers' errors, an RBI-single from Dakota Parsons and a fielder's choice RBI from David Ellingson.

But that was as close as the Cavaliers (14-16, 5-5) would come to the visiting Panthers (14-10, 4-6).

Parsons and Nate Fisbeck collected two hits each while Tyler Vaughan added another.

Jacob Krzemien and Eric Felchak combined for 3 1/3 innings of shutout relief.

Lufkin used to home runs to win it and tighten up the playoff race. The Panthers moved to within a game of fourth-place College Park.

The Cavaliers visit A&M Consolidated for a 7 p.m. Friday game. The Tigers (14-12, 6-4) pulled into a tie for second place with Oak Ridge by defeating Bryan on Tuesday.
