Highlanders set for 7-on-7 state tournament
THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Woodlands Highlanders 7-on-7 summer football team will join 63 other qualifying teams at the 2013 Division I 7-on-7 State Championship, Friday and Saturday, July 12-13, at Southwest Williamson County Regional Park in Leander.
The Highlanders qualified by winning its own tournament last month and has been placed in Pool N along with Langham Creek, West Mesquite and Edcouch-Elsa at the state tournament. The top two teams from each of the 16 four-team pools advance to the championship bracket while the bottom two teams from each pool advance to the consolation bracket.
Pool play begins at 1 p.m. Friday, July 12. All teams will play three pool games on Friday. Consolation bracket play begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 13. Championship bracket play begins at 9 a.m. Saturday. The consolation championship game is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday with the state championship game set for 4 p.m. Saturday.
The Woodlands opens pool play with a 2 p.m. game against Langham Creek. The Highlanders face Edcouch-Elsa at 4 p.m. and then round out pool play with a 6 p.m. game against West Mesquite.
