THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Middle/Upper School French teacher Susan Dworaczyk may be new to The John Cooper School this school year, but she is a seasoned teacher with over 20 years of foreign language teaching experience.

Dworaczyk will begin her three-year term as President of the Texas Foreign Language Association (TFLA) in November. The TFLA advances the study of modern and classical languages, including their literatures and cultures, at all levels of instruction. As President, Dworaczyk is responsible for overseeing the annual conference, organizing presenters and preparing the conference program.

In her role as President, she is an advocate for the advancement of world language learning throughout the state of Texas and will represent Texas at the national conference (ACTFL) in Orlando in November. “I believe passionately in the importance of learning other languages and in the importance of understanding other cultures,” she said. “It is, therefore, an honor and a privilege to have been chosen to represent the state of Texas in this role.”

Dworaczyk is also the President of the Texas French Symposium, a statewide competition for high school students of French (non-native French speakers). Cooper French students compete in the French Symposium each year, and will do so again at the 2014 competition to be hosted at Atascocita High School on March 28-29, 2014.

Dworaczyk holds a BBA from Western Michigan University and an MA and a M.Ed. from The University of Houston. She enjoys travel, reading, painting and gardening in her spare time.
