Softball: Lady Highlanders go 4-1 in tourney

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Woodlands High School softball team put on the finishing touches over the weekend before opening District 14-5A play Tuesday when it hosts Conroe at 6 p.m.

The Lady Highlanders hosted a tournament Thursday through Saturday and came away with four wins in five games to run their record to 9-2 for the 2014 season. The Woodlands defeated Westlake (10-1), Spring (3-0), Fort Bend Christian (5-1) and Liberty (11-2) in order before closing with an 8-0 loss to Bellaire.

Sidney Salmans delivered three hits while Aubrey Leach and Emily Langkamp each added two hits against Westlake.

Abby Langkamp fired a five-inning three-hitter, striking out nine. Kaitlyn Stavinoha drove in four runs.
Langkamp drove in two runs and threw five innings of three-hit ball at Fort Bend Christian, striking out 10. Salmans and Amy Cimera each delivered two hits in the game.

Langkamp homered and drove in two runs against Liberty. Leach added two hits and a pair of RBIs.

Shelby Dublin had two hits and drove in a run against Spring while Caitlyn Bartsch fired a five-inning, three-hit shutout.
