THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The John Cooper School track and field team will participate today through Saturday in the Victor Lopez Classic at Rice University before hosting the Cooper Dragon Invitational at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5.

The Dragons distance medley relay team recently brought home a silver medal from the Walt Disney World Open in Kissimmee, Fl. over Spring Break.

The team of seniors Derek Tam, Rami Asi, Jacob Stelter and junior Cody Bohan ran second in a time of 11 minutes, 05 seconds among a 12-team field comprised of groups from Orlando, Tampa, Miami, Chicago and Washington D.C.

“With 12 teams, the first leg has to set up the race,” Cooper track coach Scott Holland said.

Tam did just that, running a solid 1,200-meter leg before handing the baton in third place.

“Rami Asi ran the 400 meter leg,” Holland continued. “Two teams surged at the start of this leg, but Rami moved with the leaders and held third.”

Bohan ran the 800-meter leg and closed the gap on second place.

“With 300 meters to go, he moved into second and opened a gap on third,” Holland said. “Jacob Stelter ran a very smart 1,600 meter leg and held second place.”
