Athletic Republic: Performance sports training with proven results

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - In early July, The Woodlands will be home to Athletic Republic, a training facility designed to improve an athlete’s skills including speed, first-step quickness, explosive power, overall athletic conditioning, and much more. In the past, Athletic Republic has been present in The Woodlands, but the opportunity to purchase the trademark earlier this year arose. Bill Arend, a Woodlands resident and firm believer in the results of Athletic Republic, wasted no time in becoming the owner of the new facility.

“All three of my kids have been through Athletic Republic programs. That is a testimony in itself,” said Arend. “The beauty of this training and conditioning is that it applies to all sports, boys and girls.”

From children as early as 7 years old, Athletic Republic can take a competitor’s skills and ability to the next level. The 23 year-old company has franchises all over the U.S. and guarantees improvement.

Arend also wants to focus on young athletes so that they can improve their athleticism, while avoiding injury. The facility’s FUNdamental programs immerse youth in a friendly and supportive environment to help improve their strength, endurance, flexibility, coordination and self-esteem.

“I see a lot of disturbing trends in youth sports where there are a lot of injuries and a lot of pressures put on kids at a young age to specialize in a sport,” said Arend. We are focused on assessing athletes on the front end early and seeing their strengths and weaknesses.”

Since the training programs at Athletic Republic are science-based and proven by research, an athlete’s results will not depend on the athletic trainer they are given. Staff members follow the same, specific curriculum to ensure the greatest outcomes.

In a study conducted with college athletes, for an eight-week, 24 session program, there is an average improvement of 0.2-0.4 seconds in the 40 yard dash, 4 inches of vertical jump height, 5mph in throwing velocity, as well as gains in running efficiency.

“The system works and it is not by chance,” said Susan Romero, General Manager of Athletic Republic in The Woodlands. “You can turn your off season on.”

Throughout an athlete’s training, objective tests will be taken to document positive changes and results. Customers also learn how to train correctly and mechanically, in order to prevent injuries.

“The most rewarding part for me is to see that ‘ah ha’ moment on an athlete’s face. Even as early as two to three sessions, they start to see a difference,” said Romero.
