Groundbreaking held for Embassy Suites at Hughes Landing

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Howard Hughes Corporation® (NYSE: HHC) and its wholly-owned subsidiary, The Woodlands Development Company, along with Embassy Suites Hotel held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new Embassy Suites at Hughes Landing®, a 66-acre mixed-use development in The Woodlands®, the country’s premier master planned community.

Located on Lake Woodlands, Hughes Landing is a vibrant waterfront destination where people will live, work and play in a walkable community with a blend of popular retailers, dining, entertainment, multifamily residences and Class A office space.

“The rapid growth at Hughes Landing has created significant demand for a new hotel in the area to effectively serve the needs of our local business and leisure travelers,” said Paul Layne, Executive Vice President of Master Planned Communities for The Howard Hughes Corporation. “As we cater to a mix of professionals, residents and visitors, Embassy Suites will be a valuable addition to Hughes Landing, creating the ultimate ‘lifestyle intersection’ in The Woodlands.”

The new 205-room Embassy Suites is an upscale, all-suite, full-service hotel for both business and leisure travelers, slated for completion in late 2015. The 172,000-square-foot hotel will feature 3,000 square feet of meeting and event space; Embassy BusinessLink™ Business Center; a full-service bar and restaurant; and a 4,000-square-foot rooftop pool deck that overlooks Lake Woodlands. A 24-hour fitness center will include state-of-the-art cardio, balance equipment and weight-training options.

With more than 215 hotels in the United States, Canada and Latin America, Embassy Suites Hotels offer guests two-room suites with separate bedroom and living areas. A collection of coffee and teas by The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf®, which were specially created for Embassy Suites, are featured in each room. Guests will also be able to enjoy the brand’s signature amenities like free “cooked-to-order” breakfast and an evening manager’s reception that offers complimentary snacks and drinks.
