PEARLAND, Texas — The College Park Cavaliers were defeated by the Pearland Oilers 41-20 Thursday night.

The Cavaliers put the first score on the board and kept their momentum throughout the game, but after a few turnovers in the second half, the team struggled through the last quarter.

College Park Head Coach Richard Carson said that while the outcome of the game was certainly not ideal, he was proud of the effort put forth by the varsity athletes. He added that Pearland, with a 10-2 overall record and a 7-1 district record in their 2014 season, is a talented team and said they choose to schedule teams that play at such a high caliber to challenge his own athletes.

“We have a lot to work on this season,” Carson said. “But if anyone thinks that we’re going to hang our head after this loss is looking at the wrong team.”

The College Park High School varsity football team’s next game will be against Eisenhower at W.W. Thorne Stadium in Aldine Saturday, September 5 at 6:00 p.m.
