Senior running back A.J. Sanders scored both touchdowns for the Cavaliers, solidifying the final score within the last four seconds of the first half. Defense held off Davis from scoring for the remainder of the game.

“Our defense played great,” Head Coach Richard Carson said. “We gave up one score on offense, but they played great, played hard and got after them. I can’t say enough about them.”

College Park had two fumbles on the offense, both of which were recovered by Aldine Davis.

“Offensively, we’ve got to quit making it hard on ourselves,” Carson said. “We will correct that, but right now we’re going to celebrate this win.”

College Park will open district against Atascocita High School at Turner Stadium in Humble Saturday, September 26 at 6:00 p.m. While Carson said the team has a bit to work on, they feel confident about starting their district season.

“We’re not ready, but we’ll be ready come Saturday,” Carson said. “I think we’ve been tested, and I think we have fought, and I think our schedule is as tough as anybody in our district. Like I told the guys even before we played, when this is over, we’re all in first place come Monday. We’re 0-0, so that’s the attitude we’re taking.”
