THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The John Cooper School boys’ golf team finished in second place, behind conference-rival Kinkaid, at The John Cooper Invitational on March 1 at Woodforest Golf Club. The Dragons hosted the five-team event which included Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) South Zone schools.

It is very rare to witness someone shoot 29 on nine holes. Very impressive.

Cooper sophomore Ben Wong and senior Ben Robinson led the Dragons with a second and third medalist with a 69 and 72, respectively. Kinkaid’s Cole Hammer led his team as well as shooting the low score of 67 in the tournament. Teammate Will Jacobe finished as fourth place medalist, shooting a 75.

Of special note was Wong’s performance on the back nine with a score of 29, which included two eagles and three birdies.

“It was awesome to watch Ben play the back nine,” said Cooper Head Coach Rod Gold. “He was hitting his lines with his driver, he hit his irons with great precision, and putted beautifully. It is very rare to witness someone shoot 29 on nine holes. Very impressive.”

The Dragons will compete in the St. John’s Invitational on April 3 and 4 at Wolfdancer Golf Club.
