Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion ranked No 1 outdoor amphitheater in the world

The Woodlands, Texas – The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion is now ranked first in the top 100 amphitheaters in the world based on the number of tickets sold so far in 2016, according to Pollstar magazine, the concert industry’s leading trade publication. The Pavilion’s ticket sales have totaled 203,092 for concerts between January 1 and June 30, 2016. This is the second time that The Pavilion has achieved the top spot on the publication’s list, previously during the third quarter of 2015. The Pavilion has consistently ranked in the top five since 2010.

The Pollstar report is reflective of 8 sold-out events including KSBJ Anniversary Show with Newsboys March 19, Mumford & Sons April 3, I Love the 90’s featuring Salt –N– Pepa April 22, Dave Matthews Band May 13, Journey with The Doobie Brothers May 21, Jimmy Buffett & The Coral Reefer Band June 4, Houston Symphony’s Star Wars & More: A John Williams Tribute June 7 and Weezer and Panic! at the Disco June 10. Since then, Twenty One Pilots also had a sold out show on July 5.

In addition to its lineup of contemporary entertainment in 2016, The Pavilion has presented a very successful performing arts season so far, with five Houston Symphony concerts, performances by Houston Ballet and the Texas Music Festival Orchestra in addition to several educational outreach programs.

Other venues recognized on Pollstar magazine’s list include Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, CA at No. 2, Waldbühne Berlin in Berlin, Germany at No. 3, Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO at No. 4 and BB&T Pavilion in Camden, NJ at No 5. Other Texas venues on the list include Gexa Energy Pavilion in Dallas at No. 12, Austin360 Amphitheater in Austin at No. 42, and Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels at No. 48.
