THE WOODLANDS, Texas — With a mission to reach a larger audience and educate people on their Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, Integrity Comfort Solutions began discussing a variety of topics using live Facebook videos.

Much to their excitement, the videos have reached thousands of people, providing them with functional knowledge about their heating and A/C units. The team films on Tuesday mornings and chooses their topics by searching common questions people ask about their HVAC systems online.

“Fifteen years ago, we didn’t have this available to us,” Chris Crawford, owner of Integrity Comfort Solutions, said. “Nobody had a phone with Google on it, so if your A/C was down, you went and talked to your dad or uncle or somebody that knew something about HVAC to find out who to call. Now, if anybody’s A/C breaks down, they just Google it.”

The team at Integrity remains committed to their clients by educating them on everything they need to know to make the best decisions regarding HVAC repairs. Crawford said they create several videos covering an array of topics but keep them brief and as non-complex as possible.

“Our whole idea with this is if we can educate our homeowners up front then when we arrive and start giving them information, they already have that information available,” Crawford said. “You can make really solid, educated decisions if I can give you the information upfront.”

Integrity Comfort Solutions offers a membership at $129 a year. The membership allows clients to have every HVAC in their home checked twice a year, in addition to a 15 percent discount on parts, materials and labor. Crawford said this allows them to maintain relationships with their clients.

“We don’t even use the word customer—it’s client,” Crawford said. “A customer is somebody that goes to a gas station and buys a candy bar, and you never see them again. A client is somebody that you’re going to see once or twice a year. It’s an ongoing relationship with a client as opposed to just a one-time transaction.”

Hiring highly trained technicians who are committed to serving their clients honestly is a big part of Integrity’s mission. Crawford hopes to contrast the trends of the industry by educating people using their “good, better, best” model, instead of trying to capitalize on a client’s lack of knowledge.

“A lot of HVAC contractors rely on the fact that people don’t know the intricacies of what we do, how the system works, or the technical aspects behind it. I think they rely on that so that they are seen as the subject matter experts. It really helps them from a sales perspective,” Crawford said. “We prefer to give our clients all of the information and let them decide. We instruct our technicians that they have to give every client three options: good, better and best. We use this model to try to educate the homeowner about all of their options first and then let them tell us what they want to do.”
