HOUSTON, Texas — Vena Ashley, local artist and co-founder of State of the Art Shows, has recently been named curator for the new gallery, Rockstar. Ashley assumes her duties in time to facilitate the gallery’s soft opening on Thursday, September 1, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Rockstar Gallery is located in 5700 NW Central suite 160, a newly renovated four-story office building in northwest Houston on U.S. 290 between Bingle and Hollister. Gallery manager Laurie Lopez Grieger said, “Our gallery is fresh, new, exciting and fun; a gallery that is artistically in tune with world art influences.”

The gallery was added to the building plans after Ashley and Grieger created custom artwork for the building, including elevator panels and conference room tables. Ashley said, “This group of artists has been hand selected to extend the ‘New York City vibe’ of the building to the gallery for the first show.”

Ashley and her State of the Art Shows co-founder Gretchen McDaniel recently hosted its second annual “Every Summer Has a Story” art show and competition. Ashley plans to announce the details for the next art show, “’Tis the Season,” shortly.
