THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Shine your light for a good cause at the third annual Illuminate 5K fun run at Lone Star College-Montgomery.

The glow-in- the-dark fun run will take place Saturday, October 29 at 6:30 p.m.

The race is organized by The Mission LSC, a student organization, and Illuminate Nations, a nonprofit dedicated to carrying the banner of the gospel into the most unreached nations of the world.

“The Mission LSC is a Christian club for students, dedicated to bringing the good news of Jesus Christ to young adults and building an atmosphere of hope and love in our community,” said Joe Garza, professor of radiologic technology at LSC-Montgomery and advisor of the Mission LSC. “Our students and this community want to see a difference in the world and this event helps connect them to challenges they might not have know exist today.”

Participants run through the darkness to take a stand against injustice, illiteracy and poverty.

The cost is $30 for individuals, $25 each for groups with four or more runners. There will be free snacks, drinks, t-shirts, glow gear and prizes for runners. Proceeds raise money for underfunded orphanages in India, Nepal and Bangladesh. This year, funding will also be going toward the launching of a school program in the slums of India.
