The Woodlands Christian Academy named Apple Distinguished School

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Woodlands Christian Academy is pleased to announce that it has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for 2016–2018 for its blended digital learning environment for all students on campus.

The school environment is designed to prepare students to enter college and career with the potential to create and invent as prominent and innovative leaders. Students are provided a myriad of digital devices: iPads in Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and 1st grade; 2nd – 8th grade students each have a MacBook Air; and every high school student has a MacBook Pro. Classrooms at Woodlands Christian are equipped with wireless internet access, MacBook Pro, Smart Board, projector and Apple TVs; allowing teachers to integrate technology across all curriculum.

The Apple Distinguished School designation is reserved for programs that meet criteria for innovation, leadership, and educational excellence, and demonstrate a clear vision of exemplary learning environments. Head of School, Julie Ambler said " I’m very proud of the efforts of our administration, teachers, and students to bring such a distinction to our campus for a second time. By combining 21st century learning with our college preparatory curriculum, we are preparing and inspiring our students to reach their highest potential - spiritually, academically, physically, and socially. Recognition as an Apple Distinguished School for the second time affirms our initiative to bring an innovative learning environment to our students."

The selection of Woodlands Christian as an Apple Distinguished School highlights our success as an innovative and compelling learning environment that engages students and provides tangible evidence of academic accomplishment. According to Director of Technology & Innovation, Janet Coe, “Only 183 schools across the globe have the privilege of calling themselves an Apple Distinguished School. Once achieved, we aren’t allowed to rest on our laurels! Every two years we must demonstrate that as educators we are continuing to improve our instructional practices to meet the needs of our students. Woodlands Christian strives to offer an innovative and creative classroom learning environment. The ultimate goal of this technology-infused environment is to prepare our students to meet the demands as a 21st-century digital citizen as they enter college and then on to careers. Recertification as an Apple Distinguished school for the next two years helps us to achieve that goal."
