THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine has moved to its new location on the second floor of Medical Office Building 1 on the Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital campus, located on the southeast corner of Interstate 45 and Highway 242 in The Woodlands.

The new facility comprises the expertise of six leaders in orthopedics and sports medicine, providing the all-encompassing care people have come to expect from Houston Methodist.

“As a team we provide progressive, individualized, nonsurgical and surgical care for a variety of sports medicine and orthopedic problems,” said Marc Labbe’, M.D., orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. “Whether you need to be seen for neck or back pain, shoulder replacement, a concussion or simply a wellness checkup, we have the expertise in one facility to take care of your needs.”

“As a sports medicine physician, if my patient needs a surgeon, I love knowing that all I have to do is walk down the hall to find one of the best surgeons in any specialty of orthopedic surgery,” said Alysia Robichau, M.D., primary care sports medicine.

The new clinic offers onsite imaging, durable medical equipment and casting, all under one roof.

Another unique feature is its proximity to Houston Methodist Outpatient Rehabilitation and Sports Performance Services. The state-of-the art 10,000 square foot rehabilitation center is conveniently located on the same floor and offers a combination of strength training, performance enhancement techniques and physical, occupational, and hand therapy.

“What makes us stand apart is we strive to find the true cause of a patient’s issues,” said Ben Renfrow, director of Rehabilitation Services. “If you have low back pain, instead of just striving to temporarily mask symptoms, we aspire to identify the source of the symptoms; such as reduced mobility in a neighboring region of the body; or faulty movement patterns due to decreased strength and stability. We aim to treat the real cause of the problem, instead of waiting for you to come back one month later due to a lack of improvement. Whether you are an elite athlete or desire to get back to daily functional tasks, we have the skills and resources to help you succeed.”

The rehabilitation clinic is also equipped with an anti-gravity treadmill and an indoor batting cage and golf net to help patients return to the sports they love as quickly and safely as possible.

State-of- the art equipment in a convenient location, Robichau said is a win-win for patients and doctors.

“I am thrilled that my patients can access physical therapy in the same facility as our physician offices,” said Robichau. “It’s great knowing I can easily check in on my patients when they are in a therapy session. It allows me to have even greater involvement with my patients’ care.”

Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine and Houston Methodist Outpatient Rehabilitation Services are located at 17183 I-45 South, Suite 210, The Woodlands, Texas 77385.

Both offices are open 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. To schedule an appointment, call 936.321.8000.
