THE WOODLANDS, TX – Week 2 of district girls soccer kicked off around The Woodlands in this cold Texas weather. College Park takes on Willis, Conroe takes on Grand Oaks and finally the defending district champs, The Woodlands, take on Oak Ridge. Although the departure of their coach, The Woodlands Lady Highlanders, look to defend their district title and make the same if not better playoff run as last season.

Having homefield advantage is always a plus but The Lady Highlanders have put together a team full of elite defenders, wingers and strikers to handle any situation. The Oak Ridge Lady War Eagles struggled to pass Ellen Persson (#8) and Brooke Manley (#19) who defended each attack from their strikers. Although it seemed like an eventless first half, Alitza Taylor (#1 OR GK) on the other end of the field defended many attacks from the Lady Highlanders. Unfortunately, the pressure put on by The Woodlands at the Oak Ridge end of the field, wasn’t enough to find the back of the net so the half ended scoreless.

Going into the second half, it looked like the game was going to mimic the first half but, Anna Orr (#6) with The Woodlands broke through the defense and drilled one in the back of the net. This left the door open for The Woodlands as Ellen Persson (#8), Katherine Williams (#3), and Courtney Koehler (#4) scored right after each other. Oak Ridge struggled to stop the attacks and finished off the game scoreless with the final score being 4-0.

The Woodlands is set to face a tough Grand Oaks team, while Oak Ridge looks to turn things around and defend their home turf against Willis.
