CONROE, TX -- Conroe ISD dedicated Veterans Memorial Intermediate, which opened this fall as a fifth and sixth grade campus in the Caney Creek High School feeder zone, in a ceremony this week.

A combined choir of Veterans Memorial and Grangerland Intermediates performed a patriotic medley, while two students explained what “legacy” means to them. Staff members from U.S. Congressmen Morgan Luttrell’s and Dan Crenshaw’s offices presented proclamations in honor of the school and presented a United States flag which flew over the Texas Capitol. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Curtis Null, Board of Trustees President Skeeter Hubert, and chairman of Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Park and former judge Jimmie Edwards each addressed the packed auditorium, before the inaugural principal, Amber DeBeaumont, closed out the ceremony.

Following the program, the Veterans mural was unveiled on a wall at the entrance of the school. Conroe ISD accepted photo submissions from anyone in the District who served, or who has a family member who served, in any branch of the military to be included on the mural. Another mural is in planning for an adjacent wall and submissions can be made at: https://forms.gle/sUvttCiScNikeXRN8.

Veterans Memorial Intermediate is the former location of Moorhead Junior High, directly across FM 1485 from Caney Creek High School.
