CONROE, TX -- Lone Star College-Montgomery ( LSC-Montgomery ) in partnership with the Lone Star College Foundation, hosted its annual Presidential Scholars Breakfast on March 22 to honor its generous scholarship donors and deserving student recipients.

The ceremony brought together LSC Foundation board members, donors, scholarship recipients, and their guests. Highlighting what it means to be a donor, Cami Keitel, Vice President of Student Success, spoke about the Jorge Christian Keitel Memorial Scholarship Endowment which was established in memory of her late husband. This scholarship not only supports students in pursuing their educational goals but also serves as a powerful reminder of the lasting impact of his legacy on others' lives.

LSC-Montgomery honored over 30 students for their academic achievements and scholarships at the event, with Elizabeth Maupin being one of them. Maupin, a finalist in the Chancellor’s Essay Contest and long-time Girl Scout, received a scholarship that has supported her education. She shared her story of perseverance and how receiving a scholarship her first semester enabled her to continue pursuing her academic goals.

Attending college has allowed her to grow in independence, confidence, and knowledge. She chose LSC-Montgomery for its affordability and flexibility in deciding on future plans. She also developed study methods, time management skills, and maintained relationships with her friends and family. Overall, she feels more prepared for her future and grateful for her experience at the college.

Other scholarship recipients expressed their gratitude for the financial and emotional support they received.

  • Brandon DeSiqueira, recipient of the Rotary Club of The Woodlands Endowment scholarship shared, “This scholarship directly impacted my housing situation for the spring semester. 2024 has been a tough year but being able to financially breathe for a moment was a blessing that I am thankful for. At the beginning of February, I lost a lot of my things in a fire. During the process of downsizing to breathe for my transfer to UH, I put my things in storage and a week later the facility caught fire. This money went directly to my relocation costs, and it was a huge thing I didn’t have to worry about during a tough time. For this, I’m extremely grateful.?”
  • Binh Bui, awarded the Maverick Express 0920 scholarship says, “Receiving this scholarship has had a profound impact on me, both academically and personally. It has provided me with the financial support necessary to pursue my educational goals without the burden of excessive student loan debt. Beyond the financial assistance, being awarded this scholarship has boosted my confidence and reaffirmed my dedication to academic excellence.”
  • Jess Yepes, recipient of the LSC-Montgomery Theatre Patrons Scholarship Endowment expressed, “This scholarship has been a major help with my finances. Currently, I have no time for a job so my parents are helping me with college expenses at the moment. Being able to lighten their load after all they have given me throughout my life is nothing short of a blessing.”

Lone Star College-Montgomery is dedicated to supporting its students' academic, personal, and professional development.
