THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands YMCA Kids Triathlon Presented by Texas Children’s Hospital doesn’t happen until July, but registration is already well underway and slots are filling up fast. The discounted ‘early bird’ registration ends this Sunday.

Prices go up Monday

The Early Bird registration fee is $40 until March 31, when it increases to $45. Regular registration deadline is June 30; after that, the late registration fee is $50 and lasts until July 14, based on space availability. The fee includes an event shirt and finisher medal. The event is capped at 300 triathletes.

The triathlon is open to all skill levels, but all children must be able to swim several laps of the pool, unassisted, and ride a bike with pedals. Boys and girls will compete separately in events designed for their age group. Children ages 6 - 9 will swim 50 meters, bike for one mile, and complete one lap of the small field. Children ages 10 - 12 will swim 100 meters, cycle for two miles and run one lap of the entire field. Ages 13 will swim 150 meters, cycle for 3 miles and run 1 lap of the entire field and 1 lap of the small field.

In its 20 years of promoting fitness and confidence in children, the Kids Triathlon, presented by Texas Children's Hospital The Woodlands, benefits the YMCA Annual Campaign, which ensures everyone, regardless of age, income or background has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive at the Y.

In addition, the YMCA is offering two clinics beforehand for interested participants. July 16 - 19 will be the First Timers Clinic for $60; July 19 will have the Tri Refresher Clinic for $15.

Registration for the race and the clinics can be done at https://runsignup.com/Race/TX/TheWoodlands/YMCAKidsTriathlon.
