Police arrest husband of murder victim
THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Police have arrested the husband of a woman who was found strangled to death on February 21, 2011 at home in the 25500 block of Many Oaks Drive in the Village of Grogan’s Mill.
According to police, Christie Susmtad, 34, was found dead inside the home when a witness came to check on her. MCSO Major Crime’s detectives and crime scene investigators noted signs of a struggle and initiated an investigation. An autopsy was ordered and the Medical Examiner ruled the death as a “homicide by strangulation.”
On Monday, June 20, MCSO Major Crimes Unit investigators met with the District Attorney’s Office and received a warrant on the charge of Murder for the victim’s husband, Ryan Lee Sumstad, 36. He surrendered himself to detectives at the Sheriff’s Office the next day and was placed into jail with his bond set at $500,000.
The investigation is continuing and anyone who may have information about this case should call Det. David Eason at 936 760-5876.
