MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- On September 10 Pippa Williams was nominated with resounding approval to join the Advisory Council Board of Montgomery County Assistance League. “Making a Difference” in the lives of children, women and families is the number one priority for Pippa, with Operation Backpack at the top of her list.

This local Woodlands blogger, is creating quite a buzz with her blog “Shop with Pippa” about thrifting. What started out as a hobby with her children a little over a year ago has taken many unexpected turns.

Teaming up with another Houston thrifter, Jen Meneely, these two thrift shopping experts and creators of the blog “Too Cheap Blondes” have turned their favorite hobby into a multi-media business. The duo’s practical thrifting advice has been a reoccurring feature on numerous television programs such as "Stretch your Dollar", the Style Networks’s hit show “Mirror/Mirror”, and “FOX 26 Morning News.”

Their segments teach the average and extravagant shopper how to build a thrift wardrobe. They show it is possible to thrift for the picky brand conscious teen or wear the latest season trends and even buy dresses for the entire wedding party, including the bride for under $100.

Their message is that you can buy high-end fashions from top designers, including Burberry, St. John, Tory Burch, even Chanel, for a fraction of the retail cost (usually less than 5% of the original price) all while supporting your community.

Beyond the blog and television appearances, they have a book in development “TOO CHEAP BLONDES” and are frequently invited to attend fashion events such as "Renux and Redux Fashion Show." Pippa says, "I think fashion experts are finally giving thrift shopping the credit it deserves. When I watch the high end designers present their season lines, it only inspires me to re-create the look for about $20."

Jen Meneely has a gift for finding Vintage and boutique pieces. "There's no reason why the average American woman can't have a Chanel blouse in her closet and there's no reason why she should pay hundreds of dollars for it."

Both Jen and Pippa have been thrifting for over twenty years. What began as necessity, turned to an appreciation for value and commitment to support the community through the thrift shop’s non-profit missions. Organizations such as Goodwill, give almost $ .96 back on the dollar to support individuals with barriers to conventional employment with training, education and job placement.

Jen and Pippa believe anyone can “Thrift with Style”. Visit Too Cheap Blondes Blog to get more information and see their shopping segments.
