UPDATE: Dow Jones closes 8th consecutive record day at 14,450

UPDATE: March 12, 2013

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose for the 8th consecutive day to close at 14,450; a streak that began March 1, and the longest streak in two years.

Tuesday the Dow Jones rose just 2.77 points, just enough for another record, to close at 14,450. The Standard & Poor's 500 index closed down 4 points, to close at 1,552, and the Nasdaq composite fell 11 points, to end up at 3,242.



March 11, 2013

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose for the seventh consecutive day; a streak that began March1. Monday the Dow Jones rose 50.22 points, or 0.3 percent, to close at 14,447.29. The Standard & Poor's 500 index edged up 5.04 points, also 0.3 percent, to close at 1,556.22. And the Nasdaq composite added 8.51 points, or 0.3 percent, to 3,252.87.

Year to date:

The Dow is up 1,343.15, or 10.2 percent.

The S&P 500 is up 130.03, or 9.1 percent

The Nasdaq composite is up 233.36, or 7.7 percent.



March 8, 2013

For the fifth consecutive day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed on a record high at 14,397 points, up 67.58 pts. The high was 14,413. For the week, the Dow Jones was up 307.41, and 1,292.93 or 9.9 percent for the year.

The Standard & Poors 500 Index closed up at 1,551.18; the Nasdaq rose to 3,244.37. Both reaching new highs.

March 7, 2013

For the fourth consecutive day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed on a record high at 14,329 points. A high note of 14,354 was reached prior to mid-day. Positive overseas markets at the opening bell, were attributed to the record-setting numbers.

The S & P 500 also reached a new high at 1,544.26, up 2.80 points, and just shy of the 1,545.78 periodically throughout the day.

The NASDAQ bounced back and experienced another record closing at 3,232.09, up almost 10 points. A high of 3,235.10 was reached earlier in the day at noon.

March 6, 2013

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at another record high, 14,296, Wednesday, March 6, 2013, for a third record-setting consecutive day. Twice during the day the market went over the 14,300 mark, reaching 14,320 approximately an hour before closing.

UPDATE: March 5, 2013

The Dow Jones industrial average closed at 14,253.77, a gain of 126 points, or one percent. The market reached 14,277 as of 10 a.m. CST, and although the market closed down from this high, it was still set a record high.

The Standard & Poors 500 index rose 14 points, or 1 percent, to 1,539. The Nasdaq gained 42 points, or 1.3 percent, to 3,224.

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Dow Jones industrial average hit an all-time high after the opening bell, Tuesday morning, March 5. The market soared 100 points, reaching 14,222, to exceed the previous record of 14,164, reached October 9, 2007.

Both the Nasdaq and Standard & Poors index reacted favorably. The Nasdaq was up 30 points to reach 3,212, and the S & P rose to 1,536 drawing closer to its record of 1,565.

The markets responded to the overnight activity in the Asian and European markets…China’s aggressive economic growth projections, and Europe’s increase in retail sales. To date, the market is up 7.8 percent for the year.
