THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The following are Conroe ISD campus updates for April 23 - April 29.

Birnham Woods Elementary School

Join us on Saturday, April 26 from 12-4 p.m. as we kick off our annual Spring Fling. This is, by far, one of the most anticipated events of the year! There will be an amazing auction, plenty of vendors, special visitors, games and entertainment for all ages. Everyone is welcome! This is a great time for incoming students to check out their new school, meet staff members and have a blast!

On Wednesday, April 23, third and fourth grade students will be taking their STAAR reading. The campus will be closed to visitors. All parents are being asked to refrain from entering the building which includes eating lunch with students. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

The Bulldog Spirit store will be open April 24 and 25 (Thursday and Friday). Students can shop during their lunch/recess and use the Bulldog tokens they have earned for good behavior or pay by cash. PTO is always looking for volunteers to participate.

Come show your Bulldog Spirit as we celebrate Spirit Night at SK8 Town on Thursday, April 24 from 6-8:30 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will come back to the school.

The Pre-Kindergarten/PPCD field trip will take place on Tuesday, April 29 at the Children's Museum.

Broadway Elementary School

Broadway third and fourth grade students will be taking the STAAR test on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 22 and 23.

Buckalew Elementary School

Collins Intermediate School

Congratulations to the Anthropogenic Geese DI team for making it to the Globals competition next month in Tennessee. Joseph Cahill, Caroline Batton, Jeannette Dimple, Colin Sundin, and Abby Onofria.

On April 28, the sixth grade Colossal Cobra award ceremony will take place.

On April 29, the fifth grade Colossal Cobra award ceremony will take place.

The Fun Run at The Woodlands College Park High School will be April 29.

Cox Intermediate School

David Elementary School

Registration is underway for the annual David's Dream Run, which will be held on Saturday, May 10, at Woodforest Bank Stadium. There will be a 1 mile fun run beginning at 8 a.m. and a 5K fun run immediately following. You may call David Elementary at 281-298-4700 for more information or click here for registration.

Deretchin K-6 School

Our campus will be closed to visitors from April 21-25 for STAAR testing.

First grade will be enjoying their field trip to Old McDonald's Farm on April 23.

On April 26, The Woodlands High School will be hosting String Fling at 2 p.m.

It's that time again! The Spring Bookfair begins on April 29 and continues until May 2. Your students will have times to visit and if parents would like to attend they may join us on April 29 during the late night between 4-7:30 p.m.

Ford Elementary School

Ford Elementary STAAR testing will take place on April 22 and 23. The campus will be closed on those

days. Parents may come by the school or call the front office if you need assistance. We appreciate your support.

On April 24, our second grade students will have their Art Show. Parents are invited to visit and admire our students' amazing work during school hours.

Galatas Elementary School

Staff members will be hosting a luncheon in honor of Galatas volunteers on Tuesday, April 29 from 11:15 a.m.-12:45 p.m.

Glen Loch Elementary School

The book fair is coming soon and many volunteers are needed. The book fair setup will be on Friday April 25 at 12:30 p.m. in the library. The book fair preview week for students with their classes is April 28 through May 1. Parent volunteers are needed to help with both book fair preview week and sales week the following week.

Fun Day for kindergarten through fourth graders is also coming soon on May 2 from 8:45 a.m. to 11 a.m. and we will need many parent volunteers.

There will be a parents only sneak peek sale day at the book fair following fun day. The Parent Teacher Organization is selling personalized bricks as an ongoing fund raiser.

Buy a brick and be part of school history. There will be no school store during the month of April.

Hailey Elementary School

Wednesday, April 23, is a STAAR testing day for third and fourth graders. Please ensure that your child gets a good night's sleep the night before the test and eats a good breakfast that morning. The students are well-prepared and will be very successful on the exams. School will be open for students in all grade levels, but closed to visitors on state testing days.

The annual Spring Fun Run will occur at College Park High School Tuesday, April 29. Rain date for the event is May 1. The Fun Run is open to all students in grades 3-6 from Collins, Wilkerson, David, Hailey, Lamar, Powell, and Ride. The one mile run will take place on the field adjacent to the tennis court at College Park High School, and will begin at 4 p.m., concluding by 6 p.m. The event will begin with third grade girls, followed by third grade boys, moving through the grades until all students have run. Participants should wear running shoes, shorts/pants, and their school t-shirt. All finishers will receive a Finisher's Ribbon commemorating the event. It is advised that all Fun Run participants are able to run the complete one mile course. Registration and permission forms are available at Hailey.

Faculty and parents will recognize one student from each class during a presentation of “Spotlight on Citizenship” Wednesday, April 30. The students are selected based on their demonstration of good citizenship in the classroom, school, and community. Congratulations to these students.

Students are encouraged to bring aluminum cans for recycling every Friday for the Cash for Cans program.

Houser Elementary School

STAAR testing will be April 23. Visitors to the building on these two days, please be aware that testing will be going on in the morning hours in the third and fourth grade hallways. Please make sure all students get to school on time especially on these two days. Thank you!

The District Fun Run is Tuesday, April 29 at 4 p.m.

Houser's Boosterthon will kick-off on Wednesday, April 30 in the gym at 1:45 p.m.

Kaufman Elementary School

The third and fourth graders will be taking the STAAR Reading on Wednesday, April 23. Please make sure they get plenty of rest the night before and a healthy breakfast that morning. We are very proud of all our students and we know they will do their best. Please no volunteers or visitors on campus during testing days.

Kindergarten will be going to Old Macdonald's Farm for their field trip on Thursday, April 24.

Lamar Elementary School

Third and fourth graders have the STAAR Reading on April 23. There will be a closed campus. Good luck on the STAAR Test!

McCullough Junior High School

We proudly announce that all six McCullough Bands earned the highest UIL award possible for band competition. All six bands earned UIL Sweepstakes Awards. From our research, we believe this is a first

in the state of Texas and are so proud of our history making year and this huge achievement. Congratulations to the McCullough Bands for their performances at the Alamo Showcase of Music Festival in San Antonio. Concert Band 1, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble all earned Superior Ratings from the judges and Best in Class for their categories. The McCullough Band also won the "Best Overall Band" at the Festival.

The McCullough tennis team played a strong match against York. The seventh grade girls won 6-0 and eighth grade girls won 7-0. The Eighth grade boys won 4-0. Seventh grade boys played well, but fell short against the Eagles 3-4.

Mitchell Intermediate School

On Wednesday, April 23, all sixth grade students will be taking the Reading STAAR test. On Thursday, April 24, all fifth grade students will be taking the Science STAAR test.

On Friday, April 25, LC 12 students will participate in a Field Day on campus grounds. On Friday, April 25, LC 4 students will take a field trip to the Spring Creek Nature Center sponsored by our Parent Teacher Organization.

The annual String Fling concert will be held on Saturday, April 26 at 1:30 p.m. at TWHS. On Saturday, April 26, members of the Mitchell Band will participate in the 5th Grade Band Solo/Ensemble contest at Mitchell Intermediate.

On Monday, April 28, LC 5 students will take a field trip to the Spring Creek Nature Center sponsored by our Parent Teacher Organization.

On Tuesday, April 29, LC 6 students will participate in a Field Day on campus grounds.

Fourth Quarter Progress Reports will be distributed on Tuesday, April 29.

Oak Ridge Elementary School

On Friday, April 25, second graders will be performing “Go Fish!” The program starts at 2 p.m. and is open to parents, family and friends.

Parent Teacher Organization is hosting a Boosterthon Kick-Off on Monday, April 28. The Boosterthon program raises money for school activities through a Fun Run, but also teaches about fitness, character and leadership.

Oak Ridge High School

For the third year in a row, the Oak Ridge cheerleaders and mascots ranked in the top ten schools across the nation for their contribution to the St. Jude Children's Hospital. The girls start their commitment at the beginning of the season by writing 20 letters each to family and friends asking for donations and bringing them to camp, and then continue throughout the year with Game Day Give Back and various other fundraisers. While in Memphis, the girls are given the opportunity to tour the Target House (where patients and families live during treatment), participate in activities with the patients and families, tour the hospital, learn the history and meaning for St. Jude, and perform at a pep-rally for the patients. The cheer program came back with a mission for next year to get the entire school involved and raise $10,000. This year they raised approximately $3,000.00.

Snyder Elementary School

Our Stallion Derby and Carnival will be April 26 from 11 - 2 p.m. Tickets are on sale now. There will be carnival games (Lollipop Tree, Duck Pond, Flush the Frog, Feed the Horse Toss, Ring Toss, Bowling, 3 Legged Race and Sack Race). Food may be purchased from Mama J's BBQ, Papa John's Pizza and Blizzard of Oz Snowballs. Other fun activities include pony rides, a rockwall, cake walk, mini-golf, giant obstacle course and much more! Please join us for a day of fun!

Tough K-6 School

Members of the Coulson Tough Sixth Grade Band competed in the CISD Solo and Ensemble Contest at Vogel Intermediate this past Saturday, April 12. Our students performed very well and earned a total of 59 First Division medals! Congratulations to the following students for earning a First Division rating on a solo, ensemble, or both: Pablo Aviles, Nathan Beitler, Evan Boudousquie, Jonah Bufton, Fernanda Coello, Caroline Conroy, Kennedy Croom, Luca De la Guardia, Emily Dolan, Lauren Fountain, Azure Gilmore, Reese Glynn, Nico Gonzalez, Jayden Hairr, Hannah Hextell, Addy Kralich, Noah Lane, Kayleigh Mann, Swathi Mannem, Gonzalo Marquez, Grayson Mills, Hannah Murphy, Safia Naqvi, Andrew Nemeth, Skye Nowlin, Aaron Oh, Ana Petway, Lily Robertson, Lukas Sullivan, Aalia Raza, Sydney Reed, Paige Snider, Franklin Tang, Jessica Tate, Pamela Trevino, and Avery Wood. Mr. Norris and Mrs. Flake are very proud!

Coulson Tough third and sixth graders selected the Montgomery County Animal Shelter as their service project for this year. They collected donations during the month of March and three car loads of supplies were delivered to the shelter. Congratulations to our students for their hard work on this project. The shelter appreciates all the new supplies for the cats and dogs.

York Junior High School

Oak Ridge High School Sports Medicine in conjunction with UT Physicians Group will be hosting Pre-Participation Physical Exams Wednesday, April 23 after school until 6 p.m. in the ORHS gym. The cost is $20 and must be paid in cash. All students who are planning on participating in athletics, band, dance, cheer, managers, trainers, video crew, and club sports are required to have a 2014-2015 physical on file for the 2014-2015 school year. Please call 832-592-5467 with any questions.

The PTO is hosting the first Powerball Tournament at York Junior High on Friday, April 25. Check in will begin at 4:45 p.m. with the games starting at 5:30p.m. There will be food and drink vendors present. Come out enjoy a great game and support our students!

There will be a Parent Information Meeting for those eighth graders interested in trying out for the Liberty Babes Drill Team on April 24 at 6 p.m. in the Oak Ridge High School gym.

The deadline for schedule changes for next school year is April 25. Forms are available in the Front Office and the Counseling Center.

There is a mandatory parent meeting for incoming eighth graders wanting to play football on April 29 at 6 p.m. in the York cafeteria. The Champion's Club and a sales rep from North Houston Athletics will be present to answer any questions regarding athletic apparel.
