THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Each year, The Woodlands Children's Museum celebrates going back to school – with one last, big summertime bash.

The annual Shake Your Summer Sillies Out event is slated for Friday, Aug. 22. The museum is located at 4775 W. Panther Creek Drive, Suite 280.

The fun begins at 10:30 a.m. with a reading of “The Juice Box Bully” by Bob Sornson and Maria Dismondy, illustrated by Kim Shaw.

Volunteers from the Montgomery County Women's Center will be reading the book to help bring awareness of bullying just in time for the start of school. The book will be read again at 2:05 p.m. for those who miss the earlier time slot.

Live entertainment is also on the bill – with several time slots to choose from:

-- Houston’s favorite kid-friendly rocker Andy Roo and the Andy Rooniverse will perform at 11:10 a.m. and at 11:40 a.m.

-- A musical act that demands getting up to dance, Tom’s Fun Band, will take the stage at 12:45 p.m. and 1:15 p.m.

-- The comic juggler Claude Sims performs at 12:05 p.m. and 1:40 p.m.

Other activities scheduled throughout the day include creating a summer silly hat, hula hooping, a cup-stacking contest, balloon ping pong, face painting and a balloon artist.

Volunteers from the Montgomery County Women's Center will also engage children in a friendship bracelet activity, and Frozen Bliss will be on deck to provide tasty treats to guests.

The museum will provide Stroll-et – a valet for strollers -- service for guests. Baby carriers are recommended, since strollers will not be allowed in the museum during this event.

The fun will continue well into the school year at The Woodlands Children’s Museum. The calendar is full of exciting activities and after-school workshops. The museum is also the perfect place for educational play for younger siblings while big sisters and brothers are away for the school day.
