THE WOODLANDS, Texas - During the Art Expo at the Marriott, from 9 AM to 5 PM on July 17 to July 19, the Marriott hosted The Painter’s Supermarket, an exhibition of stores and products ranging from painting supplies to fabrics. The Supermarket was free to enter, and open to all in the public to browse.

“It’s my second year here,” said Richard Keating, a sales associate from CLF Inc., based in Beaverton, Oregon. He described the Supermarket as “an art exhibit, and a way to see what’s out there – an opportunity to see a wide variety of products at a discounted price.” He stated that the target audience, who he expected to see walking the halls of the Supermarket, was “fine artists, or painters.”

The large exhibition hall was lined with blue canvas sheets and displayed rows of tables and shelves stocked with artist’s supplies, finished artwork and artisanal jewelry for sale. The hallways were full of artists and intrigued passerby eager to pick up new supplies to work with, or perhaps stop and watch an artist’s demonstration of a new product for sale.

Just a cross-section of the fascinating stalls included a stall dedicated only to paintbrushes, a stall where shoppers could attempt to paint on turkey feathers, and a stall exhibiting embroidered shirts.

“There’s a variety of every medium possible, but mostly painting. They have great brushes,” stated Iliana Amador, an artist specializing in painting and a satisfied shopper at The Painter’s Supermarket. “I loved it.”
