SPRING, Texas -The Oak Ridge War Eagles scored 38 points in the second half and cruised to a 62-34 victory over Klein Forest in a non-district football game Friday night at Klein ISD Stadium.

The victory moved the War Eagles to 3-0 on the season. They will face their stiffest test of the young season when they host 3-0 Deer Park on Saturday.

Oak Ridge started the 2013 season 7-0 before losing its final four games to end the campaign 7-4.

On Friday, the War Eagles welcomed back the services of quarterback Braden Letney, who completed 11-of-20 passes for 216 yards and three touchdowns.

Letney missed Oak Ridge’s 48-3 victory over Aldine due to injury, but Riley McKnight filled in by completing 11-of-13 passes for 103 yards and three scores in the lopsided victory. He also rushed for 90 yards and was nominated for Montgomery County Player of the Week.

“Riley’s consistent, he’s a competitor and he wants to win,’’ Oak Ridge head coach Dereck Rush said earlier in the week.

Kwami Etwi rushed for 115 yards and scored three touchdowns in Friday’s win over Klein Forest, which dropped to 1-2 on the season. It was the second time he has rushed for more than 100 yards this season.

Etwi also caught three passes for 139 yards and two touchdowns, while McKnight had two catches for 62 yards and a score.

Klein Forest dropped to 4-19 under second-year head coach Barry Abercrombie despite having 15 returning starters from last year’s club.

The Golden Eagles had only allowed a total of 40 points in their first two games before Oak Ridge put up 62 on Friday night.

“They definitely have some athletes,’’ Rush said of the Golden Eagles. “They have veteran receivers and they have a pretty athletic quarterback and running back.’’

Oak Ridge has outscored its first three opponents 135-58 as they opened the year with a thrilling 25-21 victory over Morton Ranch, a game in which they trailed by more than two touchdowns at one point.
