THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Conroe ISD’s Culinary Arts Program was the recipient of a donation from local restaurant, Masa’s Sushi & Robata Bar in The Woodlands. On October 5, 2014, the restaurant held a charity golf tournament and dinner with proceeds going to the District’s Culinary Arts Program.

Owner and chef of Masa’s Sushi, Masa Nagashima, presented the check to Greg Shipp, CISD Coordinator of Career and Technical Education on Tuesday, November 4, 2014.

In thanking Mr. Nagashima, Mr. Shipp said, “These funds will have a direct impact on our program. There is a definite need among our students to become better informed about the career opportunities available to them in the culinary field. Our students appreciate your support and I know this gift will have a direct impact on student learning.”

Conroe ISD’s Culinary Arts Program provides students with the fundamentals and principles of the art of food preparation including management, production skills and techniques. Students are able to pursue a variety of national and industry certifications while preparing for careers in the restaurant, food, and beverage industry. Students may also participate a unique practicum that provides occupationally-specific opportunities combining classroom instruction with actual business and industry career experiences.

The donation from Masa’s Sushi & Robata Bar will be used to provide instructional resources for the Culinary Arts’ students.
