Lady Highlanders showcase defense, advance to Area

TOMBALL, Texas - The Woodlands Lady Highlanders used solid defense to start the second half en route to a 50-38 victory in the Class 6A Region II Bi-District playoffs over Klein Collins at Tomball High School, Tuesday night.

The Lady Highlanders settled into both ends of the floor in the third quarter, limiting Klein Collins to just five points in the period while outscoring Klein Collins by eight, to take a commanding 37-23 lead going into the fourth quarter.

The Woodlands (20-13) stingy defense kept Klein Collins to under 30-percent shooting from the floor for the game. Seniors Amber Terry and Aaliyah Wheatfall each scored 10 points, while Junior Payton Walker also scored 10 points.

The Lady Highlanders won’t have time to celebrate long as they advance to face Austin Bowie (29-2) on Thursday, February 19, at Hearne High School at 7pm.
