THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The John Cooper School chapter of the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) and the Cooper Art Society hosted a very successful 10th Annual Empty Bowls Project on February 21, raising $10,000 for the Interfaith Food Pantry for the second year in a row. Dr. Ann Snyder, President and CEO of Interfaith of The Woodlands and Missy Herndon, Director of Programs, attended the event to thank the organizers.

Cooper students in prekindergarten through grade 12, plus faculty and staff, created bowls for the Empty Bowls luncheon that featured a simple lunch of soup and bread, a silent art auction and a bowl to take home. Senior Sawyer Stewart, who has helped with the project for all four years of high school, expertly guided the 2015 event with NAHS Co-Presidents Meiya Cho and Ramsha Asim.

Dr. Ann Snyder and administrators from Interfaith of The Woodlands attended an Upper School assembly in March for the official check presentation for the Interfaith Food Pantry. An additional $250 was donated to the Imagine Render Group, a nonprofit organization that founded the Empty Bowls Projects that now take place around the globe.

On behalf of Interfaith, Dr. Snyder shared her gratitude that over the past seven years, Cooper's Empty Bowls Project has given over $50,000 to the Interfaith Food Pantry and this year's donation brings the total to $60,000. She showed a video that demonstrated the impact of supporting their efforts. Since its inception a decade ago, The John Cooper School's student-led Empty Bowls Project has donated approximately $75,000 to local hunger relief efforts.
