THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The language school at Crossing Borders’ Houston location is bringing the world to its young students by celebrating its inaugural International Children’s Festival on Thursday, March 26, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at its Rice Village facility. Crossing Borders is an organization dedicated to teaching language and cultural awareness to individuals that have moved to the community, with facilities in Houston and The Woodlands.

Young students to sample dishes, costumes and culture from all over the world

“We have hosted an International Food Fest at our Woodlands location for many years now,” Crossing Borders CEO Elvia Taylor said. “This year, we were inspired to duplicate the festival for our young students, and we know this festival will grow into a day the entire organization looks forward to every year. The students will love it because they get to share a piece of their homeland with others, plus they get to literally get a taste of their friends’ cultures.”

The festival was conceived as an informative, educational and tasty way for students of all ages – as well as the staff at Crossing Borders – to showcase their native lands’ traditions and cuisines. The students range in age from 18 months in the preschool, through second-grade age, through adults in continuing education classes.

Taylor hopes members of the public will also come by to see the event and be inspired to enroll their own children in the multicultural program. Home countries of the students and staff that will be showcased at the festival include Mexico, Venezuela, Columbia, Brazil, Argentina, Russia, India, Lebanon, El Salvador, China, Norway and the Czech Republic. The festival will include traditional music, dress and activities.

The Children’s International Festival will be held at The Crossing Borders Houston facility, located at 2353 Rice Boulevard in Houston.
