The People Have Spoken per Gordy Bunch

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas - Statment by Gordy Bunch on behalf of the citizens group that successfully campaigned in opposition to the $350M Road Bonds:

In the greatest of American traditions, the citizens of Montgomery County have spoken. What was first presented to voters as a proposal that would improve traffic without raising taxes disintegrated under the weight of public scrutiny. It is time for us to demand a better bond package for November. A road bond without extending Woodlands Parkway, no maintenance projects, and one that addresses our near term immediate needs.

It is time for our elected officials to act on the will of the people. They work for us and we expect them to LISTEN!

Thank you to the 5,000 citizens who signed our petition, volunteered, voted, shared, posted, tweeted, called and walked to help our cause. A special acknowledgement to our Woodlands residents for turning out with the most votes recorded in any May election in our 40-year history. We truly can affect change when we show up, stand up, and demand better from our government.

County officials need to consult professional transportation experts, eliminate Woodlands Parkway from the plan, delete maintenance projects, and deliver near-term immediate needs planned in a county-wide mobility study for reconsideration by voters. I thank God for giving us a country where we can express our opinions, have meaningful debate, and vote our convictions.
