UPDATE: July 25

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas - FAITH - “Fighting Cancer” in Montgomery County provides emotional and financial support for cancer patients and their families. It also assists with education and preventative care.

FAITH’s goals are accomplished through generous donations from businesses, individuals, and dedicated fundraising volunteers. Since 2010, the non-profit organization has raised more than $100,000! Through its programs, nearly 500 area citizens have been assisted annually.

Next on FAITH’s calendar is “Lanakila Lu’au”, which translates to “Victory Feast over Cancer.” The 2nd annual fun fundraiser will be Thursday, September 24, at 6:30 p.m. at Walden Yacht Club. (Due to unforeseen circumstances, the date was changed from August.) Paige Walford and Karen Lonon have volunteered to serve as Co-Chairs again this year for the celebration. The “Island Casual” luau, silent auction, and live auction will only cost $100 per person to enjoy the festivities….or $850 for a table of 10 attendees.

Paige said, “I am in awe of the amazing ladies on our committee! They have very creative and experienced minds; their ideas are always flowing. Our committee’s driving passion is to help our county’s underserved. We are seeking sponsors to help us achieve our goals.”

Karen added: “Our luau is a time to support FAITH….and have fun. The silent and live auctions will be highlights as our committee has worked tirelessly to secure items our attendees will find irresistible.”

A few of the non-profit organizations who will benefit from FAITH’s fundraising are:

New designated fund at MD Anderson - $15,000 donated to Montgomery County pediatric patients this year; additional $1,000 will be donated annually for the next five years.

Lone Star Family Health Center - $15,000 donated for “See, Test & Threat” event.

MD Anderson The Woodlands Regional Care Center - $5,000 donated to again sponsor Pamper Night Bags for MDA’s Breast Friends (breast cancer survivors) + $10,000 to the original designated fund at MDA.

FAITH "Fighting Cancer" in Montgomery County is a 501©(3) nonprofit organization, which is run entirely by volunteers. Most of them have dealt with cancer either personally or with close family members and friends. The dedicated ladies realize that not only the patient but also the entire family can go through traumatic changes--and assistance may be hard to find.

Please e-mail FAITH.luau2015@yahoo.com for event sponsorship and ticket commitments. Donations may be made to FAITH -“Fighting Cancer” in Montgomery County at P.O. Box 445, Conroe, Texas 77305.
