Local Pour: A tasty addition to Hughes Landing with a gorgeous view

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - One of the newest developments in The Woodlands is the Hughes Landing area. Along with Whole Foods and other businesses, smaller shops and restaurants have also started to appear. One of the newest offerings is the Local Pour, located at 1900 Hughes Landing Boulevard. Originally started in Houston, The Woodlands location is the second restaurant bearing this name.

As you pull up to the restaurant, you are immediately greeted by a valet parking stand free of cost upon validation; just make sure to tip.

Inside is a wide open space decorated by a long extending bar to the side. To the other side there is an open kitchen which contributes to the overbearing amount of noise during peak hours. I found myself screaming to my friend who was a foot away from me.

At night, there are live performers to the corner of the restaurant. From Thursday to Saturday, the restaurant is even open until 2 am.

But where you really want to be at this restaurant is outside. Keep walking past the noisy main room and you are greeted by doors that lead to this view. Just keep in mind that the restaurant doesn't take reservations and is usually packed during mealtime.

To date, this is the best view I’ve seen from a Woodlands restaurant.

How is the food? Well, its not as good as the view, but its not bad at all. I would recommend the ahi tuna tacos for $14. If you’re into rare seafood the tacos are a delicious entrée.

For those of you over 21, there is an extensive drink menu featuring many types of beers, wines and cocktails. Overall, the food ranges from above average to very good; while is it nothing unique there is nothing to complain about. Service was pleasant throughout the meal with friendly and fast staff.

In conclusion, although the food isn't outstanding, compared to other restaurants in the area, the Local Pour really stands out. If you can secure a spot on the patio, the Local Pour promises an affordable, casual meal that is sure to add a sprinkle to your daily routine.
