THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Woodlands made its mark on Houston area audiences as the township was featured on KPRC Channel 2 News on the opening day of the inaugural The Woodlands Craft Beer and Music Festival, which ran last Friday and Saturday. The two-day music, drinking, eating and entertainment extravaganza was presented by Mercedes-Benz of The Woodlands.

Promoters and sponsors are already planning on how to top The Woodlands Craft Beer and Music Festival next year

Over three dozen craft beer breweries were featured, along with numerous vendors providing the best in local and regional food and drink. Local gourmet cupcake bakery CRAVE even held a “cupcake/beer pairing” event for the more discriminating palates at the festival. Numerous bands – including Rainchild, Deep Ella and Mango Punch – provided constant music on two different stages. More than 3,000 people attended the festival, which was held at Town Green Park in the heart of The Woodlands.

The event was produced by Global Scene Productions, which was co-founded and co-owned by local Montgomery resident Ken Monro. “To have that many attendees come to an inaugural event speaks volumes to The Woodlands and its newfound reputation as a ‘happening township’ for young singles and couples and families alike to find exciting things to do,” said Monro.

Along with the thousands of local residents and dozens of vendors and volunteers, Monro credited a large part of the success of the festival to the Township Board and The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau. “They were very supportive,” Monro said.

Based on the strong attendance and the number of questions and comments fielded by Monro and other festival staff, Monro is confident that this year’s festival is the first of many to come. “We will definitely be bringing the festival back to The Woodlands next year.” Furthermore, Monro noted, additional festivals and events for singles and families to attend are already in the planning stages for the upcoming months.
