BRENHAM, Texas – Blue Bell Creameries announced Tuesday, July 14, that Fort Worth businessman and philanthropist Sid Bass has become an investor and partner with the company.

Fort Worth businessman and philanthropist, Sid Bass, partners with Blue Bell.

"We are pleased Sid Bass has made a significant investment with our company. The additional capital will ensure the successful return of our ice cream to the market and our loyal customers," said Paul Kruse, Blue Bell CEO and president.

A graduate from Yale University and Stanford Graduate School of Business, Bass the joined the family’s oil and gas, and carbon black businesses, founded by his father, Perry Richardson Bass, and his great-uncle, Sid Richardson.

Bass has managed long-term investments and worked closely with management teams throughout his career, notably The Walt Disney Company.

The announcement comes as Blue Bell is still in the process of getting back into production after all operations were suspended for deep cleaning and revamping after a listeria outbreak earlier in the year.

The company issued a national recall and shut down production after the company's ice cream was linked to 10 listeria illnesses in four states, and three deaths in Kansas.

The venture capitalist will provide a much-needed boost from both an economic standpoint and for his business acumen.
