THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Registration is still open for individual and corporate teams for the 5th annual Mothers Against Drunk Driving Walk Like MADD and MADD Dash, to be held on Saturday, October 3 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Northshore Park in The Woodlands. Walk like MADD is a non-competitive community 5K walk. MADD Dash is a family-friendly 5K chipped run. Both events will raise funds for MADD in Southeast Texas. The events are proudly presented by sponsor Milstead Automotive, located at 29707 W. Hawthorne in Spring.

The event is set for October 3rd at Northshore Park.

Registration is open to youths and adults runners and walkers, even dogs and people who can’t make the actual event. Heather Smith, Special Events Manager for MADD’s Southeast Texas Affiliate, said there are many ways to help. “You can walk as part of a team or on your own,” she said. “You can even be a virtual walker if you are unable to be there in person.” Individuals can also donate, volunteer at the events, or become an official event sponsor. To register a team or for more information, visit www.walklikemadd.org/thewoodlands.

The funds raised through these events in the Woodlands will stay local, supporting the Southeast Texas region. Smith said, “We have added a new peer-to-peer fundraising system that will make it very easy for teams and their captains at registration and during the event. This event is your chance to lace up your sneakers and get involved in stopping drunk driving in our community. By signing up for this event and raising funds on behalf of MADD, you are making our families and community safer.”

Walk Like MADD and MADD Dash are the only large-scale, community-based events that provide those personally impacted by drunk driving, the opportunity to take steps, along with their friends and supporters, to stop drunk driving in their community and nationwide. MADD began in 1980 with the goal of putting an end to drunk driving. Since that time, the organization has served more than 300,000 victims of drunk drivers and saved more than 300,000 lives. There has been a nearly 50 percent decline in drunk driving deaths since MADD was founded.
