Houston Methodist Breast Care Center glowing pink, offering free breast health event

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The lights are glowing pink this month at Houston Methodist Breast Care Center at The Woodlands, as well as on Houston Methodist’s billboards and Market Street panels, putting a spotlight on the importance of breast cancer detection.

“I cannot stress enough the importance of early detection,” said Debbie Sukin, chief executive officer, Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital and regional senior vice president, Houston Methodist. “One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 85 percent of these women have no family history of the disease.”

The breast care center opened earlier this year in Medical Office Building 1, located on the Houston Methodist The Woodlands campus. The center offers a spa-like environment and features state-of- the- art imaging equipment, which allows for clearer images and more accurate results, especially when examining women with dense breasts. Women can also expect quicker results, often on the same day as their mammogram.

“We strive to make the experience as easy as possible. Our staff will help patients with appointment scheduling and provide a comforting environment throughout the entire testing process,” said Dr. Magda Ghobashy, breast radiologist and medical director, Houston Methodist Breast Care Center at The Woodlands. “We know women don’t look forward to having mammograms, but it is crucial that they not put it off. We hope our all-encompassing approach to breast care and the welcoming atmosphere will encourage them to make breast health a priority.”

The breast care center invites ladies to learn more about breast health and enjoy an evening of pampering at the Pamper Me Pink celebration. Ladies will enjoy complimentary mini-makeovers and manicures courtesy of Nordstrom The Woodland’s beauty bar, free massages, hors d’oeuvres, refreshments and desserts, as well as a unique opportunity to visit with the team of specialists and ask questions during a physician Q & A panel session.
