THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Kim Nelson understands that buying or selling a home can be an emotional and exciting journey.

During her 30-plus years in the custom home-building business in The Woodlands, she learned by helping thousands of people along the path to the perfect place.

Now, Nelson has brought her insights, top-notch organizational skills and her “desire to make things easy for the client” to the RE/MAX The Woodlands & Spring office, where she’s the new office administrator and licensed assistant on the Becky Drake Team.

Nelson earned her real estate license in 1998, but has been involved in the industry since 1980.

She started out, quite literally, on the ground floor as a house cleaner for a year before working her way to up to vice president at a custom homebuilder in The Woodlands.

After she left that company, she worked as a project manager for another area custom builder.

She said she valued the opportunity to work with new owners long term – it typically took a year to plan, build and ready one of their homes – and to be part of something lasting: “Long after you’re gone, the neighborhood will still be there,” she said.

With so many years in the market, Nelson knows a lot of real estate firms and has a robust client list.

She said she is looking forward to “adding value and helping RE/MAX The Woodlands & Spring continue to grow its business.”

Danna Furnace-Grimes, director of agent services and relocation director at RE/MAX The Woodlands & Spring, said Nelson’s experience and skills fit perfectly with the team.

“Kim connects immediately with people,” Furnace-Grimes said. “Even though she’s seen the industry change and evolve over her years in the custom homebuilding business, she realizes that some things are indelible, such as giving clients complete attention and meeting their expectations. In that way, she shares our values completely.”

Nelson, the mother of two adult sons, describes herself as a workaholic.

But when she does take some time off, she won’t be found putting her feet up: She’s a runner who completes three half-marathons every year and is currently training for a triathlon.

Nelson can be reached by calling 281-367-7770, via her mobile phone at 281-723-5124 or through email at Kim@BeckyDrake.com.
