THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands Lady Highlanders traveled across the city to face the College Park Lady Cavaliers on their home court, also known as, the ‘War of the Woods’. The Woodlands is coming off a huge win against Grand Oaks and hopes to keep their 5-0 record going. College Park is looking to get a win at home against the friendly rival.

The first set showcased what was in store for the entirety of the match. College Park came out swinging with huge digs and kills, while The Woodlands would lock up the defense creating huge rallies. The Cavaliers would keep the momentum going throughout the set as The Woodlands would go point for point.

Head Coach Terri Wade would remark that they were really “flat. We [The Woodlands] didn’t have the energy.” College Park would take the close set 25-23.

As the second set began, the College Park student section roared overpowering any communication on the court. This time The Woodlands would pick up the momentum and take a dominating lead early on. College Park would chip away at the lead but ultimately fell short with a 25-14 deficit.

Tied 1-1, the exciting third set would begin as both teams would be in full swing defensively. The Woodlands would once again create a huge lead but College Park would make a tremendous comeback.

“We always get a great match from College Park no matter what,” said coach Wade reflecting back on the match.

Although College Park began to creep up on the lead, they would fall short by just a couple of points. Towards the end of the third set, it would go point for point, but The Woodlands would take it, 25-23.

In the fourth set, College Park’s determination would show as they created some insane rallies throughout the set. When the ball looked as if it was impossible to recover, College Park would somehow get it over the net. The Woodlands had to work for their points, which didn’t come easy.

“Caroline Box, on defense, was going form one end of the court to the other,” said Coach Wade.

The Woodlands would defeat College Park in the end, 3 sets to 1. Although College Park took the loss, they gave The Woodlands arguably their hardest match yet of the district season.
