VARSITY CROSS COUNTRY

SPC Championships at Fort Worth

Girls 5th place • Boys 3rd place

Coach George Dohner: The Cooper Cross Country teams gave it everything they had on a very challenging course as they competed in their season finale Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) Championship meet on Saturday in Fort Worth.

The girls started off the day finishing 5th place among the talented SPC teams.

Junior Tahira King had a great race finishing in 13th place followed by junior Milla Signorelli’s

best race of the season in 16th. Junior Alexis Seymour came back from an injury, to run a gutsy race finishing in 18th place. Newcomers Lexie Fitz Sullivan (32nd) and Emma Locht (38th)

finished out the team scoring.

I thought the girls ran outstanding, running their best races of the season. I am so proud of their efforts.

The boys ran amazing today placing five runners in the Top 20. The boys team finished in 3rd place, only four points behind the winning team. They were once again led by seniors Aditya Pakal and Grey Mendenhall who had strong finishes in 4th and 11th place respectively. Junior Walter Day had another outstanding race finishing in 14th place. Sophomore Jacob Bailey fought hard to finish in 18th place and senior Ryan Taylor passed several runners at the end to finish in 20th place.

I couldn't be happier with the way both our girls and boys teams competed today! And I can't say enough about our seniors who raced today. Grey Mendenhall, Aditya Pakal, Ryan Taylor and Ava Perugini have shown tremendous leadership and character this year. They will definitely be missed but leave a great legacy behind and I cannot thank them enough.
