Dragon Swimming Takes Second at Showcase

VARSITY GIRLS SOCCER

12/4 at The Village School • 1-0 W

12-7-9 at Lutheran South Tournament:

Coach Fri Engel: We concluded our last week before the break with a win on Monday against The Village School followed by a sixth place finish at the Lutheran South tournament. The girls fought hard, and we came close to wins on Saturday; we just couldn’t score a goal. We were missing some key players but hope to have everyone back healthy after the break. Maddie Burchfiel had an outstanding performance at the tournament. I am proud of the girls’ continued effort and look forward to the next part of the season!

Coach B.J. Feuerhelm: The girls have used the first half of the season to really work on their skill development and improvement. We are pleased with our trajectory, but welcome the break as a chance to reset. We look forward to coming back with a strong start to our conference season in January.

Coach Matthew Wilson: The boys had an excellent week. We played two games in the Stars & Stripes Classic. We played local prep school PSAT and then had a rematch with Top-10 ranked Prestonwood Christian Academy. We won both contests, led by a 20-point performance from Jeremiah Parquet against Prestonwood. Next week, we’ll compete in the OTR Exposure Christmas Classic and then a rescheduled contest at Magnolia Legacy Prep. Good luck to all with midterms this week!

12/9 at Private & Parochial Winter Showcase

Dragons 2nd place overall

Girls 1st • Boys 5th

Coach John Vindiola: The John Cooper Swim Team had a great showing at the Westfield Private and Parochial School Winter Showcase on Saturday!

The women's team won the meet on the girls side, and the Dragons placed 2nd overall. The Girls 200 Free and 200 Medley Relay (Monica Ianeva, Kyleigh Jeter, Maddie Wang, Lexie FitzSullivan) both took home first place. The boys 200 Free and 200 Medley (Jack Helm, Carlos Sepulveda, Lucas Frome, Dylan Tao) took home 3rd place in both events. Monica Ianeva won the 500 Free, which she powered through and swam by herself; and the 50 Free individually. Kyleigh Jeter won the 200 IM and placed 2nd in the 100 Free. Maddie Wang placed 3rd in the 100 Free. The Dragons return to competition after the winter holidays, and this was the best way to leave the first half of the season!
