THE WOODLANDS, TX -- In the final week of the regular season, teams solidified their spots in the playoffs while others had to pay the price for losses taken earlier in the season. Multiple rivals ended their seasons separated by one game, and their final positions set up intriguing matchups against the neighboring Aldine schools. Here are the final games of the 2023-2024 regular season, along with scores for each.

2/7 Oak Ridge vs. Willis

The Lady War Eagles hoped to end their season with the district title in a winnable matchup against Willis on Wednesday.

Oak Ridge’s dominant game-planning immediately enveloped the Ladykats from the opening tip. A 23-4 first quarter set the tone heavily in favor of the Lady War Eagles, and they refused to let off the gas for the remainder of the game. Suffocating defense and an offense that fired on all cylinders kept the team far ahead of Willis through the rest of the game, ending in a 94-28 romp for Oak Ridge.

Their victory in the last game of the season secured sole possession of the district championship and the title of 13-6A’s top squad.

2/7 Grand Oaks vs. Cleveland

Despite having to settle for second place, the Lady Grizzlies still set to work against Cleveland with the goal of ending the season on a high note.

Their aim to secure the win was aided by a tremendous first half that saw the team build a 23-point lead against the Lady Indians. The wide lead was all Grand Oaks needed to ensure their season ended positively, as Cleveland’s spirited effort in the second half failed to inch the team any closer on the scoreboard. The final buzzer sounded with Grand Oaks taking a 71-36 win as a potential momentum builder for the postseason.

2/7 Conroe vs. College Park

The third-place Conroe Lady Tigers and fifth-place College Park Lady Cavaliers squared off to see whose season would end in bitter defeat and who could hold their heads high in victory.

The intensity built up throughout the matchup due to scoring being a luxury. Both teams only managed to reach double digits by the end of the first half, with College Park clinging to a one-point lead on the road. A fiery halftime talk from the Conroe coaching staff fired the team up after leaving the locker room, as the Lady Tigers found slightly more success on the offensive end. Back-to-back 10-point quarters recaptured the lead from the Lady Cavs and set College Park home with a 32-23 defeat.

Conroe’s win establishes the team as the third seed in the playoffs, with The Woodlands holding onto the fourth and final spot.

2/7 New Caney vs. Caney Creek

Caney Creek ended their season in a road matchup against the Lady Eagles. The matchup held no playoff significance, but to end the season with a win would be a meaningful way for the programs to send off their senior class.

Quarter-by-quarter statistics are unavailable, but a brutally close game saw the teams come down to the wire to determine a victor. The effort from the Lady Panthers in their season closer proved too much for New Caney to handle, as Caney Creek took home a 35-34 victory that ended the season on a high note.
