THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The annual Woodlands Kiwanis Prayer Breakfast announced that its Keynote Speaker for this year’s event will be Eric Maddox, acclaimed author of “Black List #1: The Inside Story of the Search for Saddam Hussein---As Told by the Soldier Who Masterminded His Capture.”

The breakfast will be hosted May 2, at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Convention Center. The annual Kiwanis Prayer Breakfast is celebrating its 26th year, of bringing community members together for an inspirational morning,” says Carol Knott, Breakfast Chair. “We couldn’t be happier or more excited to bring a true American Hero to our program; he’s truly an inspiration and a genuine hero”.

Mrs. Knott goes on to say “We’ve had such a wonderful and wide variety of speakers in the past, which includes a Heisman trophy winner, Super Bowl MVP, Olympic Gold medalist, and the pastor who was the spiritual advisor to President G.W. Bush. This year’s speaker is an impressive addition to the list.”

Kiwanis seeks speakers who can inspire, no matter what their area of commitment…sports, religious, business or political. “This year we are bringing to The Woodlands Marriott Mr. Eric Maddox, whose bio is short but his service to our country is long and distinguished.” Said Knott.

Upon graduating from the University of Oklahoma in May 1994, Eric Maddox joined the U.S. Army as an infantry paratrooper for the 82nd Airborne Division. After spending three years as an airborne Ranger, Eric reenlisted as an interrogator and Chinese Mandarin linguist. Since 9/11, Eric has conducted over 2,700 interrogations while deploying eight times in support of the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) to include multiple tours in Iraq, Afghanistan, South America, Southeast Asia, and Europe.

In 2003, while assigned to a special operations task force in Tikrit, Eric conducted over 300 interrogations and collected the intelligence that directly led to the capture of Saddam Hussein. As a result, he was awarded the Legion of Merit, the Defense Intelligence Agency’s Director’s Award and the National Intelligence Medal of Achievement. Now as a civilian with the Department of Defense, Eric continues to help fight the GWOT. A native of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Eric currently lives in Houston, Texas.

“We hope that everyone takes advantage of hearing from a true American Hero,” said Knott.

Mr. Maddox will be on hand the breakfast to autograph his book. To order tickets go to the link provided or contact Carol Knott by phone. Ticket pricing is $300.00 per table (8), or $40.00 per person. Corporate sponsorships are still available for the breakfast.
