THE WOODLANDS, Texas--In late November and early December, Mr. Rooter Plumbing ran a promotion collecting dog and cat food for the Montgomery County Animal Shelter as part of the company's Business After Hours session through the South Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce. Roger Goertz, owner of Mr. Rooter Plumbing, and his team delivered over 250 pounds of food to the shelter. After talking to the people in charge, they were informed about food shortages during this time period of when dogs and cats give birth to puppies and kittens that seem to be “unwanted” and dropped at the shelter. They also learned that a lot of senior dogs and cats are dropped off and that “canned food” would be needed for all: puppies, kittens, senior dogs and cats.

Goertz is the owner of a rescued Boxer named Jiggles, also known as Jiggs, and he got the idea to put together a promotion here in Montgomery County through the Mr. Rooter® company. Each customer who donates pet food, dry unopened bags or canned, will receive a coupon for $50.00 off their Mr. Rooter service.

The goal is to raise 1,000 pounds of food for MCAS.
