THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The College Park Cavaliers baseball team came into Tuesday night’s game against A&M Consolidated just one-game back of first place in the district. Could the Cavaliers keep pace with The Woodlands just one-week away from the rematch?

College Park scores two runs on two Tiger errors

The Cavaliers (19-8, 7-2) get on the board when Austin Stokes comes in to score on a two-base error and pass ball by Consol as the Cavaliers take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

The story of the game was pitching and defense as Cavalier starting pitcher Beau Ridgway shows that Beau knows pitching. Ridgeway surrendered only two-hits in his first three innings and only a total of five for the game, while striking out four.

We move to the bottom of the fourth where the Cavaliers have Roosevelt Henderson on second base, Ryder Lucas on first base with Jayden Holden at bat. Lucas is going for second base, but a throwing error will get Henderson home and College Park has a 2-0 lead.

The Tigers had a couple chances with runners in scoring position, however Ridgeway settled down again and got great plays from his defense, including a great sliding catch in right-field by Jacob Mardick.

Consol would break through in the top of the sixth inning when Kyle Pye gets a single up-the-middle and RBI, but the next runner is caught by Tyler Mortensen after a great throw by Austin Stokes to prevent the tying run from scoring as College Park has a 2-1 lead.

Beau Ridgeway then once again showcased his strong arm, closing out Consol in the top of the seventh with two strikeouts as the Cavaliers score both of their runs off Tiger errors to win 2-1. Ridgeway improves to 5-2 as a starter this season.

With the win College Park improves to 19-8 overall, 7-2 in district and just one-game back of idle The Woodlands.
