The Westin Hotel The Woodlands breaks ground, set to open in late 2015

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – On Thursday, July 31, The Howard Hughes Corporation and Starwood Hotels broke ground on The Westin Hotel, The Woodlands, set to debut at the end of 2015. This will be the fifth Westin brand hotel in the Houston area. Located on Waterway Square, features of the new hotel will include more than 300 guest rooms, an outdoor pool, workout studio, direct access to The Fountains, 15,000 square feet of meeting space, and many more luxurious amenities. The Westin will overlook the gorgeous waterway, with prime location next to wonderful restaurants on the square and close proximity to The Woodlands Mall, Market Street and The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.

Alex Sutton, Co-President of The Woodlands Development Company, attended the groundbreaking and expressed his excitement for the hotel.

With talks in the past of a new hotel in the Waterway area, a market study was conducted along with a survey where local CEOs, Presidents and business leaders in the community were asked what brand of hotel they would want to see make a presence in The Woodlands. The number one pick was The Westin.
