THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS -- Put Your Money Where The Miracles Are! This year Dairy Queen is celebrating ‘Miracle Treat Day’ with even more magic. This Thursday, August 14th, between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m., DQ® will donate a dollar from the sale of every Blizzard®Treat to local Children's Miracle Network Hospitals® to help children in need.

DQ® and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals® are celebrating a 30-year anniversary. 2014 marks an exciting milestone! The DQ® brand has partnered with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals® for the past three decades! To date, $100 million has been raised in support of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals® across North America.

The community is invited to join in the festivities at The Woodlands DQ®. There will be face painting, kid coloring contest, balloons, and DQ cone chips give-a-way. For every blizzard purchased, a dollar will be donated to help children who visit Texas Children's Hospital. Special guests will be Bennett Rhymes and his mother, Jessica, the miracle family for Miracle Treat Day at The Woodlands Dairy Queen.

Bennett was diagnosed with asthma when he was still a baby. To make matters worse, common colds and minor coughs frequently turned into full-blown pneumonia. During his first year of life, he was hospitalized three times. Just before his first birthday, Bennett contracted adenoviral pneumonia, a very dangerous and often fatal disease. His parents feared he was in grave danger as he struggled to breathe. Wasting no time, they rushed Bennett to the hospital. Upon arrival, he was barely breathing, not moving and running a temperature of more than 104 degrees. He was immediately transported to Texas Children’s Hospital in a Kangaroo Crew ambulance. For 10 days, an amazing team of experts watched over Bennett. Thanks to them, he made it through the ordeal with no long-term ill effects.

Now a happy, healthy 11-year-old, Bennett receives follow-up care at Texas Children’s Health Center in The Woodlands. Come meet Bennett and his mother Thursday, August 14th, from 12:30 to 2:30 pm.

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals® provides 32 million treatments each year to kids like Bennett, across the U.S. and Canada. It raises funds and awareness for 170 member hospitals, keeping donations local to fund critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment and charitable care.

Since 1983, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals® has raised more than $5 billion, most of it $1 at a time, through the charity's Miracle Balloon icon. Its various fundraising partners and programs support the nonprofit's mission to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.
