ORIGINAL STORY:

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- An upper area of low pressure has moved in from the gulf with a wide band of thunderstorms currently passing through the Greater Houston area, extending from Beaumont to Wharton, and moving northwest at approximately 12 miles per hour.

Aircraft reconnaissance did not detect a tropical depression, although the disturbance was rotating in a counter clockwise direction on doppler radar before reaching land.

A 40 percent chance of rain is predicted for Harris and Montgomery counties early Wednesday evening, diminishing to 30 percent in the evening. The chances of rain increase on Thursday to 80 percent, decreasing to 40 percent on Friday, and returning to 80 percent on Saturday.

Woodlands Online and its affiliates will continue to monitor the weather and provide essential updates, and any advisories issued by the National Weather Service.
