As Hurricane Odile slammed into Mexico this past weekend, Luken Baker and Team USA were winning the gold medal in the 18U Pan American Championship game against Cuba. While the game was called with Team USA winning 1-0 in the third inning (Team USA beat Cuba earlier in the tournament, finished 8-0 overall), not everyone associated with the team has returned from the tournament due to the weather.

Hurricane Odile made landfall near Cabo, San Lucas, Sunday night, which is about three hours from where the team was playing in La Paz. The Hurricane was a category three storm with winds as high as 125 mph.

Baker has texted the following: Please start tweeting and praying about the 20 USA Baseball team parents stuck in La Paz, Mexico, and to tag MLB. Me and my mom (Belinda) were able to get out yesterday but my dad, Will Baker is still there with 20 other parents from the team. They are stranded and anticipate getting out today but flights are scarce. The hurricane blew the place apart and Mexico isn’t a safe place to be with all the chaos. Thanks to all!
